New Latin American market held for first time

por | Sep 17, 2023 | Sin categoría

Music and the smell of food filled the air as a new Latin American market took place for the first time in Bristol.

Undeterred by the rain, hundreds attended the event at St Paul’s Learning Centre in St Paul’s on Sunday.

The event was organised by Latinas in BristolCasa-Latina and Latin American Community Support (LACS).

Gisela de Bernardo, a member of LACS, said: “The market is important to bring the community together and to show our culture. There’s many people that do food or art and craft and here are all the Latins together.”

Laila Garzon, of Latinas in Bristol, added: “We think that there’s a lack of representation sometimes with the Latin community.

“Bristol is so diverse and it’s wonderful that you can see a lot of different communities and countries but not so much Latin America altogether so we are trying to embrace that.”

Following the first Latin American market, the organisers hope to run it as a monthly occurrence from March to October next year.
