ARNOLFINI EXHIBITION:

Como la Cigarra | Latinas in Bristol

07 June – 10 August 2025, 11:00 – 18:00
Gallery 5, Level 2

We are very happy and proud to have our first exhibition as part of our partnership at Arnolfini Bristol’s International Centre for Contemporary Arts from 07 June to 10 August 2025.

A great opportunity to showcase our work as an organisation from our beginnings, and also our beautiful culture through art.

The name of the exhibition was taken from the song ‘Como la cigarra’, a song by Maria Elena Walsh, Argentine writer and artist, and performed by several Latin American artists in dark times in Latin America, which talks about migration, resilience, art and being born again like the cicada.

‘Like the cicada, whose birth and metamorphosis is a powerful metaphor for perseverance and the struggle to survive and thrive again, the exhibition celebrates the resilience of Latin American communities in Bristol and beyond; drawing on collective ideas of home, community and identity.’
